Grow Beyond the Fabric

by Mandi Caskey

Mandi Caskey aka Miss Birdy is a muralist, gallery artist, and community activist. Caskey chooses to place her attention on creating imagery that will force the viewer to look outside of their mental and emotional world. Using an array of different mediums, the artwork pulls itself away from the artist and takes a life of its own. Caskey’s mural work tends to bleed into a fantasy world that organically takes over any environment and effortlessly changes the impact of a space. While she’s a local artist, Caskey is known to travel the world for art installations. Being extremely versatile and energetic, she becomes a part of the city and loves it as home.

Partners

A tailor-made partnership, Common Thread is a collaboration between the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation and Columbus Fashion Council.

CDDC

Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) is a private, non-profit development corporation with a mission to lead city-changing projects in the heart of Ohio’s capital city. CDDC served as the Master Developer for the Columbus Commons project, an award-winning, mixed-use development, and redeveloped the 700,000 square-foot Lazarus Office Building. Currently, CDDC is leading the effort on The Peninsula and has selected development partners to execute the vision for an active, mixed-use 18-hour district. In addition, CDDC developed key placemaking spaces such as the Scioto Mile and Dorrian Green, as well as cultural institutions like the first-ever satellite location of the American Museum of National History at COSI and the National Veterans Memorial and Museum.

Columbus Fashion Council

As a non-profit organization, the Columbus Fashion Council’s (CFC) mission is to provide scholarships to fashion design students and a platform for local fashion designers. CFC works to expand the fashion economy in Central Ohio through a combination of industry growth initiatives, community organizations support, funding access opportunities, and creative program development. They strive to nurture and develop the fashion community to keep our fashion talent living and working in Central Ohio.
