The National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM) will host Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors, a collection of original paintings by former President George W. Bush. The exhibition opens to the public on August 8, 2026.

The exhibition features more than 60 portraits of post-9/11 service members and Veterans, each one hand painted by President Bush and paired with a personal story of service, sacrifice, and resilience written by the former president.

The NVMM is open Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Learn a new craft every month at this cozy continuation of your favorite seasonal series! We’re taking Art in the Park indoors to the Galleries at High and Gay St to keep the creativity going during the colder months. Warm up, settle in, and take time to learn a new creative skill.

Tickets are $15, with each participant receiving a $10 gift card to a Downtown local business upon arrival. A local coffee cart will also be on site offering specialty drinks and sweet treats for purchase. Registration is required, space is limited!

October 25 – Mini Narrative Coil Pots: Participants will learn from ceramic artist, Elizabeth Wells, on how to construct mini coil pots and carve narrative imagery into the surface with a sewing needle. Wells will demonstrate basic handbuilding and surface carving techniques on air dry clay. The clay will not become a functional piece but rather a decorative object to fill your home. Participants will be provided a clay tile to practice carving on. Wells will provide care and strengthening techniques to help preserve your clay object post workshop. Materials provided, all skill levels welcomed.

Take a spirited hour and a half stroll through the city’s center and learn what unearthly things are said to lurk within downtown Columbus’ most iconic and haunted buildings. Ages 12+

“Death is a Dialogue between / The Spirit and the Dust,” writes poet Emily Dickinson. Living is a daily conversation with death, and through art, we continue that dialogue with mortality, loss, and our own humanity. In Spirit & Dust, artists working across various disciplines—from photography and sculpture to poetry and dance—seek to create space for care and connection in confronting questions of death and dying. What do we gather from our grief? How is this knowledge embodied, and what can art provide for this relationship? What can death teach us about what it means to be alive?

The process of creating art serves as a mirror for thinking about dying as a verb, where time is experienced as cyclical rather than linear. Each artist’s medium of choice in Spirit & Dust experiments with how we can deepen our relationship with the process of dying, such as through abstraction in photography, blank space in poetry, the ephemerality of dance, and the fallibility of materials in sculpture.

Spirit & Dust is on view concurrently with Experiencing Veterans and Artists Collaborations (EVAC) in the corridor space, which pairs veterans’ stories with original printmaking.

November Project is a free outside fitness group that started in Boston in 2011 to break down barriers to movement! Now in 53 cities around the globe, we create free, fun, scalable (adjustable to your fitness level) workouts for all ages – and doggos!

Our workout starts at 6:14a every Wednesday morning in Genoa Park on the Scioto Mile (on the steps behind COSI). We work out for 45 minutes together until 7am, then walk down to One Line Coffee to hang out before work!

Come join us if you’re an off-the-couch fitness newbie, a runner looking to cross-train, or any fitness level in between, we’d love to see you!
