On three separate weekends, from May to September, CDDC presents free, family-friendly, PG-rated flicks under the stars on the grounds of Columbus Commons. Bonus? Carousel rides for the kid in everyone. Bike racks are available on the west side of the Commons between Lawns A and B and on the east side between the North and South lawns. Vehicle parking is available at the Underground Garage (191 S Third) and Main Garage (55 E Rich St).
Just before dusk on the third Saturday in June, July and August, dates, families, parents, kids and friends roll out their blankets on the lawns of the Topiary Park in preparation for an outdoor screening of a favorite "From Books to Films" flick.
Presented by Discovery Special Improvements District (SID) and partners like the Gateway Film Center, each showing features free popcorn, a local food truck and plenty of kid-friendly activities. Street parking is available within walking distance of the Park’s Town Street location.
Select Fridays during the summer, the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, with support from the Gateway Film Center Community Screen, presents free films at the Bicentennial Park Performing Arts Pavilion. Pizza, food, beer and soft drinks are available for purchase. For something extra special (including an incredible view), make a reservation at Milestone 229’s covered patio. Metered parking, surface lots and parking garages are all located within walking distance.
