Artist Commune: Art as Resistance

How have people made art to further democratic causes? This Artist Commune explores techniques artists have used throughout history—like photojournalism and printmaking, among others—to combat oppression. At this interactive art-making event, we invite practicing artists to share space and discuss democracy in their own artistic practice. You can bring your work-in-progress or create something new with our free supplies. August 2026 marks the four-year anniversary of the Artist Commune series, and we’re going back to the event’s roots in challenging the dynamic of traditional art museums and gallery spaces. We want to create a welcoming community where anyone can create art without barriers.

Cuffing Szn at MadLab, part of the Columbus Comedy Festival & Pins Downtown afterparty

Cuffing Snz is brought to you with support from our friends at Pins Mechanical Co.!

Host: Jason Banks
Host: Henry Allen
Get ready for a night of chaos, chemistry, and comedy with Cuffing Szn — a wildly entertaining blind dating show that turns finding love into a full-blown competition.
Hosted by Henry Allen and Jason Banks, this interactive experience brings one bachelor and one bachelorette face-to-face (well… almost) with three mystery contestants each — all competing for a shot at romance. Through a series of hilarious games, unpredictable challenges, and audience-fueled moments, contestants must charm, strategize, and stand out without ever seeing each other.

The newly matched couple at Cuffign Szn will be awarded an all-expenses-paid date night at Pins Downtown immediately following the show, courtesy of Pins!

From awkward first impressions to laugh-out-loud reveals, Cuffing Szn blends stand-up comedy, improv, and dating show drama into one unforgettable night. Will sparks fly—or crash and burn? Either way, you’ll be glad you witnessed it live.

BONUS! Join us for the official Cuffing Szn post-show afterparty at Pins Downtown, a short walk from MadLab!

August 28 @ 7:30 pm, tickets are $20
