Don’t Sell Grandma’s House

Don’t Sell Grandma’s House represents a collaborative approach to recreating sites violently fractured by redlining and dispossession. The process of immersive world-building begs the question, “Where do we gather when our land is gone?” while also thinking about the modified ways that families transmit their histories in intimate and sacred spaces.

This show is on view concurrently with I Know Why the Blackbird Sings, a multimedia exhibition created by Tyiesha Radford Shorts.

Participating Artists: Keya Crenshaw, Matthew Pitts, Sharbreon Plummer, Marshall Shorts

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 4, 6–8 PM at Urban Arts Space

I Know Why the Blackbird Sings

In her titular autobiographical work, Maya Angelou asserts that “the caged bird sings of freedom.” But what song does the bird on free soil sing? I Know Why the Blackbird Sings revisits Ohio’s complicity in the practice of dispossession, kidnapping, and denial of due process through the locational efforts of Ohio’s free people.

Participating Artists: Tyiesha Radford Shorts, Valerie Boyer, Paisha Thomas

This show is on view concurrently with Don’t Sell Grandma’s House, a group exhibition curated by Tyiesha Radford Shorts.

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 4, 6–8 PM at Urban Arts Space

Avatar the Last Airbender in Concert: The 20th Anniversary Tour

Celebrate 20 years of elemental storytelling, unforgettable characters, and the epic journey that defined a generation.

Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert – 20th Anniversary Tour presents a stunning live orchestral performance of the series’ beloved soundtrack, now elevated with a once-in-a-lifetime cinematic experience.

This special anniversary edition features a two-hour visual journey through all three seasons of the iconic animated series, projected on a full-size cinema screen with new elements and artistic surprises crafted for this special anniversary edition that offers fresh perspectives on the show’s legacy.

Preserving the original dialogue and sound effects, the concert replaces the recorded score with a powerful live orchestra, performing the legendary music of Emmy® Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman, the creative mastermind behind the show’s original music, in perfect sync with the action on screen.

From taiko drums and erhu to soaring strings and delicate woodwinds, the music comes alive alongside the adventures of Aang, Katara, Toph, Sokka, Zuko, and more, all brought together by Zuckerman’s expanded arrangements and creative collaboration with original series editor Jeff Adams.

With a few inspired additions and celebratory touches designed to mark the occasion just for this milestone tour, longtime fans and newcomers alike will experience Avatar: The Last Airbender like never before.
