DESCRIPTION:During Memorial Day weekend\, we honor the sacrifices of the Gold Star Families who have lost a loved one in service to our country with a Candlelight Vigil.   \nWe are honored to welcome Major General Mark A. Graham\, U.S. Army (Retired)\, MBA\, as our guest speaker. A Gold Star father and dedicated mental health advocate\, Maj. Gen. Graham has devoted his life to promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention following the tragic losses of his sons—Second Lt. Jeff Graham\, killed by an IED in Iraq in 2004\, and Kevin Graham\, a Senior Army ROTC cadet who died by suicide in 2003. Together with his wife Carol\, he continues to champion efforts to end the stigma surrounding mental health care in both military and civilian communities. Among his many pursuits\, he currently serves as director of Vets4Warriors. \nDoors open at 7 p.m. for the reception. The Gold Star Family Candlelight Vigil procession will begin at 7:45 p.m. on the Museum rooftop and travel down to the Soldiers Cross in Memorial Grove. Harris will share her path to healing by reaching out to the Rangers who knew her father best. Tara discovered the surprising power of redirecting grief into something larger than herself. \nAlso\, listen as U.S. Army Veteran and country musician\, Keni Thomas\, shares a special tribute for Families of the Fallen. \nThere will be a dessert reception beginning at 7 p.m. The Vigil procession will step off at 8 p.m.\, and will begin on the Museum rooftop and travel down to the Soldiers Cross in Memorial Grove.

DESCRIPTION:Join NVMM at the Museum on Vietnam War Veterans Day for a moving ceremony to welcome home Veterans\, many of whom never received that honor after serving our country during the Vietnam War. \nThe keynote speaker is Chief Master Sergeant Ray Snedegar\, U.S. Air Force (Retired) who served for 32 years. In 1975\, Snedegar was assigned to help with the mission\, Operation Babylift in Vietnam. He will share how he helped save the lives of 145 babies and 12 adults after his plane was attacked. In total\, Operation Babylift evacuated more than 3\,000 orphans from Saigon.
