Columbus is a giving community, and now the Columbus Foundation will help us give bigger. Today is The Big Give, when our giving nature is amplified thanks to The Columbus Foundation. The Foundation's family of donors and community partners have raised a $1.3 million pool of bonus money up for grabs.

Where does the bonus money go? When you give to one of the 630 nonprofits featured in The Columbus Foundation’s online marketplace during the 24-hour window, your donation will be magnified by bonus funds, which are awarded to the nonprofits on a pro rata basis. That’s right, you can make sure your donation is pumped up.

Here’s how The Big Give works. Go to The Columbus Foundation web page and click The Big Give banner starting at 10 a.m. May 12. Choose the nonprofit you wish to support from the PowerPhilanthropy database, and give a minimum of $20 using a major credit card (all credit card fees are covered by The Columbus Foundation, so 100 percent of your gift goes to the nonprofit you are supporting). Bam; you’re done. Then let others know about your participation using the hashtag #TheBigGiveTCF.
