What To Do This Week

Hot days, warm nights, and cool funk mean one thing and one thing only: There’s lots to enjoy in Downtown Columbus this week.

Columbus Clippers Home Games

Mon-Sun, August 19-25 | Hours Vary
Huntington Park, 330 Huntington Park Ln

It’s baseball every night this week in Downtown Columbus. And it all starts with a four-game series against the Louisville Bats, followed by a three-game stretch against Ohio rival, the Toledo Mud Hens. Plus, lots of extras, like a WWE superstar, fireworks, and Dime-A-Dog Night.

Thurber House Literary Picnic: Ruth Awad

Wednesday, August 21 | 5:30 pm
Thurber House, 77 Jefferson Ave

End the summer – and this 2019 literary series – on a poetic note as award-winning poet and Ohio native Ruth Awad tells a story that needed to be told: her father’s. The evening includes picnicking (order theirs or bring your own), a reading from the author, and docent-led tours of the Thurber House.

My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra

Thu-Sat, August 22-24 | 7:30 pm
Riffe Gallery, 77 S High St

The next best thing to singing good songs is listening to them live. Enjoy a carefully selected collection of Frank Sinatra’s beloved hits, including “I’ve Got the World on a String,” “Come Fly with Me,” and “Strangers in the Night.” Tuxedo-clad look-a-like with highball glass included.

Yoga at the Columbus Museum of Art

Thursday, August 22 | 5:00 pm
Columbus Museum of Art, 480 E Broad St

Movement. Stillness. Mediation. Reflection. Is this art? Is this yoga? Actually, it’s both. Partake of these complementary disciplines and tap into the deeper part of your creative genius. Bring your own yoga mat for this 90-minute yoga and meditation session.

The Deeptones

Friday, August 23 | 10:00 pm
The Walrus, 143 E Main St

If you’re into alternative music, funk, or B-side deep tracks, this night is for you. With a setlist featuring Old School, modern, and their own brand of funk, The Deeptones will get you moving and grooving well into the wee hours.

Columbus Summer Wine Festival

Saturday, August 24 | 2:00 pm
Columbus Commons, 160 S High St

It’s a summertime convergence of 20 Ohio wineries, live music, local food trucks, and specialty food selections. Join an over-21 crowd of enthusiasts in sampling and celebrating the craft of vinification, and enjoy the body, balance, and brilliance of wines grown right here in the Buckeye State.

Columbus Crew SC Watch Party

Sunday, August 25 | 8:00 pm
Platform Beer Co, 408 N 6th St

The match is on – and so are the drink specials. Deck yourself out in Black & Gold and join other Crew fans in cheering the team onto a win against FC Cincinnati. Legitimately the best place to grab a beer (and a pretzel, perhaps) and a decidedly great view of the big screen.
