October is almost in the rearview mirror, and you know that cold is coming. Before you pull out your flannel jammies and fuzzy slippers to hibernate your way through winter, you’re gonna need some grub to make it through to spring. We came up with a quick list of 10 places that serve up a brunch feast on the weekend—all right downtown. Heck, the list might even provide enough incentive to forget hibernating all together. Just in case, we’re gonna give away a gift card to get this party rolling.
All of the restaurants listed below serve a full brunch menu—woo hoo. Now, we know there are plenty more places around town, but this list will get you started (and may even surprise some of you who thought the downtown streets rolled up after the week-day rush hour.)
- Dempsey’s serves up an entire Bloody Mary bar, and at just four bucks a pop and unlimited ingredients, you may want to also order the Irish Breakfast 2.0.
- Just around the corner, Blind Lady Tavern offers such a large selection of brunch-y items, there’s no way you can leave and still have a hangover from the night before. Try the house donuts with Porter Crème Anglaise while you’re making up your mind on what to order.
- People who dig brunch already know about Due Amici, and if we happen to get some warm, sunny weather, you can enjoy brunch al fresco.
- Hop on over to Wolf’s Ridge Brewing for a Toad in the Hole (brioche bread, eggs, Applewood smoked bacon, fingerling potatoes and porter cheese sauce).
- It’s called SuperChef’s Breakfast and More, and they’re not kidding, either. From red velvet pancakes to omelets to wings and waffles, they don’t disappoint.
- Need meat? How about Steak Up or Shut Up at Oliver’s?
- Bacon you say? Find the Candied Bacon Melt (and more) at The Walrus.
- Forget the coming cold, and head to the tropics of Grass Skirt Tiki Room for a Sunshine Caesar (or skip the food all together and go right to the Caramelized Pineapple-Coffee Grog.)
- We gave you some details about deNovo last week, but it’s worth checking out the Chocolate Souffle Pancakes when you head over for brunch.
- Relax while you take in the view of the Scioto Mile at Milestone 229. Beef brisket hash offers all kinds of comfort that may help you forget the cold weather that’s headed our way.
