It’s been a decade. Fresh A.I.R. Gallery is celebrating the last 10 years and launching an exciting new decade with their upcoming exhibit, which runs April 29 - July 17. Fresh A.I.R. opened their doors in the fall of 2004, exhibiting work from artists affected by mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. The gallery is a project of Southeast Healthcare, educating the public and dismantling the stigma of mental illness and substance abuse disorders through each artist’s vision. The work of many of the featured artists reflects their struggles and courage as they fight this stigma and address social issues.
During the last 10 years, Fresh A.I.R. has held 60 exhibitions, showcasing the work of more than 200 artists. In addition, more than 250 works of art have been sold, the proceeds from which go directly to the artists to help them establish their careers. Celebrating 10 Years and Launching the Next Decade features the work of previous exhibitors, including Gary Herdman, a Capital Crossroads SID ambassador.
The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, April 29 from 4 - 7 p.m. Enjoy live music from Twin Valley Behavioral Health’s band Trial & Error, as well as hors d’oeuvres and the exhibited artwork.
The celebration will continue in June with an exhibition at the OSU Urban Arts Space City Center Gallery to be held June 9 - 27. And the anniversary celebration will also include a series of performing artists and artist talks called Beyond the Visual. These will be held May 12, May 19 and May 27 from 5 - 7 p.m.
