The Reds are roughly 15 games out of first place, while the Indians are just out of first and battling hard. But fans of both teams will enjoy today’s (May 24) showdown between the Ohio Village Muffins and the Capitol Cannons at the Ohio Statehouse. This exhibition game of vintage “base ball” harkens back to the 1800s, when the game was new and still spelled with two words. The teams play by the rules of the era, dress in their uniforms and demonstrate their gentlemanly behavior.
The weather should be picture perfect for this annual battle between the Ohio Village Historical Muffins and members of the Ohio General Assembly. Head over to the west lawn of Capitol Square with a chair or blanket, buy a snack from the available concessions, take in the game and stay for the cannon firing demonstration. The Civil War-era cannons will be fired by the 1st Ohio Light Artillery, Battery A.
Take yourself out to the ball game!
