COSI Science FestivalFeeling festive? Seeking science? Then, you won’t want to miss the first ever COSI Science Festival. Mark your calendars for May 1-3, and get ready for a stunning showcase of science. Right here at COSI. Plus, the science fun boils over on May 4 with the Big Science Celebration. Big - and free - science fun.

Here’s the deal: you choose from more than 100 events to satisfy your curiosity. Find some family-fun events. Or, show your chemistry with a special date night out. Plus, events span the city, from the Columbus Zoo in Powell to Bexley to Westerville. With so many options, you, your family and friends can’t miss exploring something that tickles your fancy. So, study the categories - Be A Scientist, Adult Science Series, and Citywide Star Parties - and fill up your science exploration card. Each category offers a wide variety of events.

Be A Scientist

Get the low-down on STEM careers and organizations. Learn what it’s really like to be a vet, a rocket scientist, an engineer, a dentist and more. The events run the gamut from a Science Family Fun Day to virtual explorations like Ask the Astronaut with Dr. Kathy Sullivan. Really, there’s something for everyone, from ice cream lovers to robot makers. Check out the list of events here.

Adult Science Series

For kid-free exploration, consider attending one of the Adult Science Series events. Fans of Bones will love Forensic Anthropology: Uncovering the Story Hidden in Bones. Or, challenge yourself at one of the Science Trivia nights around the city. Some events are for those 21 and over, so be sure to double check. Plus, food and drink lovers will find lots of science exploring consumables, from caffeine to whiskey to bad beer. 

Citywide Star Parties

Check out the Star Party in the community closest to you. Choose from 15 locations and celebrate the evening away on Friday, May 3. Sign up for some stargazing. Or, find some family-friendly fun, food, and frolic. With special events at outstanding locations, from OSU to Franklin Park to multiple Metro Parks, choose the perfect place to star in your Friday night celebration. 

Finale Fun

Then, the Festival fun concludes on May 4 with the BIG Science Celebration. This event runs from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. all along the peninsula surrounding COSI (Washington Boulevard, Genoa Park, Town Street, and Dorrian Green Park). Plus, the fun is free! Enjoy hands-on activities, experiments, entertainment and more. Highlights include talking to NASA researchers, watching a volcano explode and building a marshmallow catapult. And, plan to fill your belly with deliciousness from food vendors. Or, check out what’s happening on the Genoa Park stage. Then, the Big Finale winds things up at 4 p.m. They say that you should have your phone ready to capture the explosive finale. Boom.
