We know it’s been tough these last months without the Main Library open to meet your oh-my-goodness-I-need-something-to read needs, but we have two pieces of good news on that front. First a countdown alert: only 102 days until the Main Library reopens to the public in all its gorgeous book-filled splendor. Whew. Second, yesterday, the Columbus Metropolitan Library launched its new and improved mobile app. Available for download from the App Store and Google Play, the new app was designed to improve upon the old one (which will no longer be in service as of March 30 - so get a’downloadin’). Users will enjoy a better search and browse experience, access to recent returns and comments, an easier to use hold system, plus continued ability to renew books, check on held items and find CML locations.

So get out and read, Columbus. We’ve got one of the best library systems in the country, as a series of awards can attest to (named Library of the Year in 2010, 2011 National Medal for Museum and Library Science, Five Star Library for seven of eight years by Library Journal, etc). You’re crazy to not take full advantage.
