The NHL All-Star weekend was a highlight of 2015 without a doubt. If you fell in love with outdoor skating, the good news is Winter Park is back. The Columbus Blue Jackets and Worthington Industries have opened the NHL-sized outdoor ice rink for public skating through February 21. Grab your warm weather gear, your favorite friends and head over for some blade-riding fun.
Channel your inner Olympic figure skating champion and spin away. Or if Wayne Gretzky is more your speed, bring a stick and play some hockey. Skates are available for rental, and you can don them in comfort in the heated locker rooms. Admission to skate is just $5, which includes skate rental. If skating isn’t your thing, or if you wear yourself to a nub, enjoy the fire pits or grab some grub in the heated tents. You can even watch the Blue Jackets if they are in action on the large video board.
And on Fridays and Saturdays, head down for live music in the entertainment tent. The remaining schedule includes Lee Gantt Band (February 12), Hot Lucy (February 13), Fat Dog (February 19) and Martini Affair (February 20).
