On January 24, the Ohio Arts Council’s newest exhibition, Duo Trio: Contemporary Diptychs and Triptychs by 14 Ohio Artists, opens at Riffe Gallery. And, this beginning coincides with the retirement of long-time gallery director, Mary Gray. So, the opening reception for Duo Trio on Thursday, January 24 will also serve as a chance to celebrate Gray’s tenure.
This exhibition, the last that Gray has overseen in 25 years, displays the work of 14 contemporary Ohio artists and their interpretations of the diptych and tripych art form. Artists include Julie M. Abijanac, Terri Albanese, Kristen Cliffel, Stephanie Craig, Thomas Frontini, Eric Holscher Almazan, Greg Martin, Agnes Ray, Emily Sullivan Smith, Melissa Volley Woods and Art Werger. This art form features two- or three-panel pieces hinged together side-by-side.
For art-lovers, Gray’s gig at Ohio Arts Council's Riffe Gallery sounds pretty great. And, she insists that it has been. After learning about an OAC position from a friend, Gray started in the grants office. Shortly after, they opened a new position in the Riffe Gallery. Since then, each day has been different, handling administrative tasks related to the exhibitions that feature multiple artists. To learn more about her time at OAC, check out this story. Then, be sure to head over to Riffe Gallery to take in this exhibit and corresponding special events.
