Biking to Work ResizeThe Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is always busy, fulfilling their mission to embrace innovative directions in transportation, energy, housing, land use, the environment and economic prosperity. They have two initiatives happening on which we want to fill you in.

First, they are seeking nominations for their Green Region Awards, which honor individuals and organizations working to create a more vibrant and environmentally sustainable region. The award winners will be announced at the Summit on Sustainability and the Environment on October 2. Nominations are due by June 30. Click here for more information.

Have you thought about riding your bike to work but aren’t sure what it would really be like? MORPC has announced the launch of a pilot “Ride Buddy” program designed to train new bike commuters. MORPC has partnered with Yay Bikes!, a local bicycle education and training non-profit, to help downtown employees and residents give bicycle commuting a try. This pilot program is free and open to anyone who works or lives downtown.
