What if you could win a prize just for getting to and from work? Really, you can with the Central Ohio Commuter Challenge. It is designed to encourage exploration of alternate modes of transportation. And to reward you for giving it a shot. So, hop out of your single-occupancy car and get ready to win. Plus, if you are the organizing sort, consider being a Company Ambassador and get your co-workers involved too. Registration opens July 1, so keep reading for the deets.
The Commuter Challenge runs July 16 - 27, with 12 days of prizes (it's like Christmas in July!). Once you've registered, you just log each commute you make with an alternative mode of transportation. And, just like that, you are eligible to win both daily and grand prizes.
First, ditch your solo ride in your car (who needs that stress anyway?). Then, find a new way to get around. Try ridesharing in a carpool or vanpool. Give public transit a whirl (and if you work in certain eligible buildings downtown, you might qualify for the new C-pass program). Walk or run to work, and get in a workout at the same time. Or, bike to work on your own Schwinn or a CoGo bikeshare. Options abound and you get to choose.
To log your commutes, you will need a profile on Gohio Commute. Once you have a profile, you can log your trips using the RideAmigos commuter tracker app. Easy. And for each ride you log, you are entered to win prizes. The app also tracks your CO2 emissions reduced, your calories burned and cost savings. So, you get to admire all the goodness you're commuting choice makes.
On day one, July 16, if you are one of the first 100 commuters to log an eligible commute, you will win a pair of movie tickets. Score. Then, on each day you log a commute, you can win individual daily prizes ($25 gift cards from the list of eligible vendors). And, at the end of the Challenge, you might just be one of three lucky grand prize winners of a $100, $200 or $300 Visa cash card. The drawing will be held July 31, with names pulled from all the daily lottery entries.
Help spread the word about the Central Ohio Commuter Challenge by becoming a Company Ambassador. Just arrange a kick-off event at your company between July 1 - 13 to share brochures and information about the Challenge.
