art classes at CCADDoes back to school time make you yearn to learn? Two downtown art spots offer outstanding adult education options to let you be a student again. Both Columbus College of Art & Design and Cultural Arts Center offer art classes that allow you to explore what interests you. So, what passion will you pursue?

Registration for CCAD Fall Continuing Education classes opened back in July and closes September 9. So,  you'll want to sign up soon. First, peruse the course offerings. Choose from drawing, watercoloring, digital photography, textile printing and more. And, if you need to prep for a Halloween extravaganza, consider SFX Makeup: DIY Halloween Costume or SFX Makeup: Zombie Workshop. Bet you never studied that back in school. You'll be good and ghouly come the end of October.

CCAD Continuing Education Art Classes

  • Classes start September 12.
  • Most classes are held Wednesdays from 7-9:30 p.m. or Saturdays 9-11:30 a.m.
  • Classes cost $350, which includes tuition and registration.

The Cultural Arts Center opened class registration on August 25. Yes, these hands-on art classes let you explore your creativity. So, choose from the fun and familiar, like drawing, painting and sculpting. Or, consider something that may be new to you. Think enameling, printmaking and jewelry. The cost per class is just $58 for Columbus residents ($65 for students who live outside of Columbus city proper), and fee assistance is available.

CAC Art Classes

  • Classes start September 10 and run eight weeks.
  • Classes are available on different days and times.
  • You must register online; no phone calls or emails accepted.

So, grab a friend or pursue a new passion solo. Either way, head out for some food or drinks before or after class. And, you can relive your school days just right.
