Library Grand ReopeningFor the many fans of our nationally recognized Main Library, the long wait for its reopening is almost over. And from all we’ve seen and heard, the wait will have been well worth it. Ready for the grand reveal? Mark your calendar for the weekend of June 25 - 26, and get ready to celebrate.

On Saturday at noon, library and City leaders will preside over the dedication and ribbon cutting on the redesigned Carnegie Plaza. Then at 12:30, the party really starts. Head into the beautifully remodeled space and enjoy entertainment and special activities, while exploring what’s new. You can even apply for a commemorative library card. You’ll also want to head to the Carnegie Gallery on the second floor and take in the art unbound exhibit, featuring work from local artists who were challenged to transform library books in disrepair into remarkable works of art.

One of the goals of the renovation was to marry the library space with the adjacent Topiary Park, a spectacular, one-of-a-kind park. From 2 - 3 p.m., guests can head out to the park to enjoy a special PBJ & Jazz concert featuring Caribbean Jazz Sextet. If you’ve never experienced PBJ & Jazz, the concert series is geared toward introducing young children and their families to jazz. Then at dusk, return to Topiary Park for the kick off to the Topiary Park Summer Movie From Book to Film series featuring The Lorax. Both PBJ & Jazz and the Topiary Park Movie Series will have additional events through the summer months.

On Sunday, from 2 - 4, the celebration continues with an author talk from bestselling author David Baldacci in the new two-story reading room. Thriller lovers won’t want to miss the chance to hear from this celebrated novelist. The event is free, but will be ticketed due to limited space. Visit the library website for registration updates to come.
