Each holiday season many of us struggle with gift-giving. It’s super easy to put together our list, but when it comes to finding just the right thing for others, we can get stymied. If you have budding artists in your life –be they young or old – we may have just the right stocking stuffer for you (or Santa).
If you have stuffed stockings to the gills with Polly Pockets, Legos, cosmetics and CDs, maybe this is the year to give the gift of art and learning. The Columbus College of Art & Design recommends art classes as a unique holiday gift for the kiddos or adults in your life. Registration is open for Saturday morning art classes for students in grades one through 12 and for an expanded array of online, evening and weekend sessions for adults. The Saturday morning classes are held from 9 – 11:30 a.m. from February 2 – April 20 at the CCAD downtown campus. While adult classes, workshops and lectures, which are also open to high school juniors and seniors, begin the weeks of January 14 and 29.
Youth classes are 250.00 for the full term; adult lectures begin at 45.00; and courses from 10 to 16 weeks range from 195.00 to 500.00 depending on the course, materials and credit status. If that’s a bit of a steep price tag for stocking stuffing, you can also purchase gift certificates for any amount which can be applied to any class offered by Continuing & Professional Studies, including Saturday Morning Art Classes and classes and workshops for adults. Gift certificates may be purchased over the phone at 614.222.3248 or in person at the CPS office on the first floor of the Canzani Center. These purchases must be made by December 20 for holiday gift-giving, as the CCAD offices will be closed December 21 through January 1.
