With ever more fabulous spots to shop, eat and visit downtown, the City has begun installing the first of 120 new parking meters on both sides of High Street between Goodale and Mound Streets. These new parking spaces should make it easier and more convenient to enjoy your favorite restaurants and shops.
Parking in this area will be prohibited between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays. This will allow COTA buses to travel the curb lanes during rush hour.
The newly installed meters will be smart meters which accept credit and debit cards as well as coins. In addition, they will allow for three-hour stays. Installation is expected to be completed by early 2013.
The parking meter installation is part of the City's Downtown Action Plan, which focuses on making downtown streets safer and more pedestrian and bicycle friendly.
