We are always finding examples of folks downtown up to good. And this week we can report on two more good-doers: The Marriott Residence Inn and the Columbus College of Art & Design in partnership with the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio.

The Residence Inn by Marriott is now a national partner with the American Red Cross and will be hosting a blood drive on Friday, August 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is always a need for blood donors, and the good people at the Residence Inn encourage you to sign up for a donation slot here. Join in the good-doing!

And as of the first week of August, the Columbus College of Art & Design will have deployed 60 recycling stations and 10 water bottle refill stations around its campus. These initiatives to reduce waste encourage recycling are being funded by a $19,800 grant from SWACO. During the fall semester, students will also create and direct a Sustainability Awareness Campaign.

These initiatives are the latest in a series of efforts to improve sustainability on campus. CCAD has added a composting program in their dining hall and began an effort to re-purpose materials left in dorm rooms at the end of the school year. Reducing, recycling, re-purposing, and doing good.
