This weekend features two events that will bring some boom to the downtown area. The first honors our nation's veterans for their service to our country. If they don't deserve some loud celebration, who does? The Veterans Day Parade will be held on Friday, November 8 at 11:30 a.m. Grab a spot on the Statehouse Lawn where you can take in both the parade and the firing of the historic Civil War-era Statehouse cannons by re-enactors from the 1st Ohio Battery A, who will also be available to discuss the cannons. There is no cost to attend, so please come and offer your thanks and support.
The second bout of boom will come from the drums, horns and more of The Best Damn Band in the Land. No doubt you've heard about their not-to-be-missed/blowing-up-YouTube half-time performances in the Shoe. But if you haven't had a chance to check them out, you can head down to Veterans Memorial to take in The Ohio State University Marching Band during their live concert. While you won't see their marching antics, which this year have included a moonwalking Michael Jackson and a dinosaur eating a Michigan fan, you can enjoy their repertoire of Buckeye fan favorites. Tickets run $10 - $20 for the show on November 10 from 3 - 5 p.m. Go Bucks.
Bring on the boom.
