The warm weather offers us the chance to break from routine and try something new. Have you ever thought about biking to work? It's a great way to get some exercise and be kind to Mother Earth. Getting involved in the Ohio Bike Challenge can help with your planning and motivation.

You are encouraged to form teams of riders (visit the Bike Challenge website for details on team formation). Riders on each team log their commuter rides in the system and at the end of May winners will be chosen for a variety of fun prizes. Ohio currently ranks seventh in the National Bike Challenge, but more riders are needed! The Ohio Bike Challenge seeks to reach goals of 1,500 riders, 300 teams and 300,000 miles. Will you rise to the Challenge?

If sweating isn't your style, you can still get involved with the MORPC Bike and Pedestrian Count. The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission is looking for volunteers to help with the Spring 2012 Bike and Pedestrian Count on May 16 from 7 - 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. These counts are part of MORPC's ongoing effort to understand bicycling and walking trends in the region. They have more than 50 slots to fill, so please consider helping out. Register to help online or by emailing jfish@morpc.org.
