It's common knowledge that Pearl Market is the place to go for fresh fruits and veggies, but now you can stay to learn the best ways to use those beautiful ingredients. Chef Shannon Gerasimchik, owner of Chiks Catering, will host cooking demonstrations and share samples during Market hours once a month starting June 11. The demonstration, in cooperation with Market vendors, will focus on cooking foods that are in season and can be found in the Market.
"We are excited to be working with Chef Shannon," said Pearl Market Manager Adam Schroeder. "We think that Chef Shannon will provide useful tips, knowledge and recipes to our customers, and he will give our customers a taste of what the Market has to offer at the peak of its freshness."
Gerasimchik shares the excitement. "I love to incorporate local produce as much as possible in my cooking."
Chef Shannon thinks that the demonstration time will be a great opportunity to show people how to use local produce to create delicious, healthy meals, and it can be easy, too. "Don't let cooking intimidate you and don't be afraid to imagine new food creations. If your meal doesn't work as planned, you can always improvise," he said.
The demonstrations will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. near the intersection of Pearl and Lynn Alleys. There will be demos, time for questions, and plenty of samples.
Chef Shannon is scheduled to be at Pearl Market on the following dates:
