Kick off your weekend fun a daily early all July long at Downtown Live. The free concert series returns to Columbus Commons with great local music to make your Thursday post-work happy hour something special. So, gather some friends and get ready for a Columbus summer classic.
First, the bar and food trucks open at 5:30 p.m. Unwind from the work day, sip something tasty and fill up your rumbling tummy. Then, the music fills the fresh night air at 7 p.m. from the Columbus Bicentennial Pavilion. You can bring blankets or chairs for a comfy spot to soak in the fun. But, please leave your coolers behind and plan to fill up from the on-site concessions.
And, if Downtown Live hooks you on outdoor music performances, there are still several more weekends of Picnic with the Pops fun. On July 14, enjoy HANSON String Theory. Then, the next weekend take in Tchaikovsky Spectacular on Friday, July 20 and Brian McKnight on Saturday, July 21. The final weekend features The Ohio State University Marching Band on both Friday and Saturday, July 27 - 28.
Looking ahead to the end of summer, you can also mark your calendar for more free concert fun. On August 24, enjoy Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers. Then, on August 31, Ohio-favorite McGuffy Lane returns with their iconic brand of rock and country tunes. Then, September 2, Shadowbox Live performs Evolutionaries: The Stories and Music of David Bowie and Prince, which promises to be an amazing tribute to two artists who left us too soon.
You can walk over after work, of course. Or, grab a CoGo Bike to add to you Summer Challenge tally. The CBUS drops you at Columbus Commons for free. Or, you’ll find convenient parking in the two Columbus Commons garages at 191 South Third and 55 East Rich Street.
Finally, if you are planning more happy hour fun, you can win a pop on us. Head over to our Facebook page and let us know which outdoor concert you want to attend for a chance to win.
