Hamilton Highlights Broadway in Columbus Season

When the doldrums of winter hit next year, Columbus will be gearing up for the hottest thing in breeches. Hamilton, Lin Manuel’s musical phenomenon, will hit the Ohio Theatre stage January 29 - February 17, 2019. And, you want to nab your season package ASAP to guarantee the best seats. Hamilton highlights Broadway in Columbus’s 2018 - 2019 season announced last week. But it doesn’t stand alone. The season kicks off October 24 - November 4, 2018 with Disney’s Aladdin. Yep, you’ll have to stop yourself from signing along with your favs from the movie, like A Whole New World and A Friend Like Me. Fans of The Lion King on Broadway will love this show from the same producer. Beauty, magic and comedy combine for a true treat.

After Hamilton wows, the 20th Anniversary Tour of Rent comes to town March 19 - 24, 2019. The show that changed American theatre forever still speaks to audiences about the power of love. And, the story of young artists facing struggles, fear and uncertainty with joy and hope resonates and inspires today.

Next, get ready for big laughs with The Play That Goes Wrong. A mash-up of Sherlock Holmes and Monty Python, this award-winning comedy melds murder mystery with hilarious mishaps for a night of fun for all ages. So, book a night during the April 9 - 14, 2019 run for some hilarity.

Then, Hello, Dolly! arrives May 7 - 12, 2019, starring Broadway legend Betty Buckley. This revival of one of Broadway’s greatest shows has broken box office records, and for good reason. It pays appropriate homage to the original, plus Dolly Levi’s matchmaking shenanigans make for tons of fun. And, the show features some fabulous songs, including Before the Parade Passes By and the title song, Hello Dolly. (If you want a little pre-show brush-up, watch the movie version with Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau, which features a young Michael Crawford before his Phantom of the Opera days).

Finally, the season wraps up with Finding Neverland, June 4 - 9, 2019. Channel your inner child, or bring your kiddos, to this show that tells the behind Peter Pan. Based on the Academy Award-winning movie of the same name. the show incorporates make-believe, faith and magic into a beautiful musical that Time Magazine says “captures the kid-at-heart.”
