It’s all Greek, and it’s all great. This weekend, head to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral at High and Goodale for the 43rd annual Greek Festival. Whether you are of Greek heritage or not, you will relish the opportunity to immerse yourself in Greek culture. Enjoy shopping, music and dancing, exhibits, and food. Did we mention food? Greek food.
You have plenty of time to visit once or twice or even more. The event runs September 4 - 7; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. - midnight; Sunday, noon - midnight; and Monday, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and free for those under 12.
The food is always a festival-goers favorite, and this festival is no exception. Enjoy pastitsio, moussaka, grape leaves, cheese and spinach pies, gyro, souvlaki, loukaniko (Greek lamb burgers), plus outrageous pastries like baklava, loukomades and more. In addition to eating this wonderful food, you can also learn how to cook it yourself through cooking demonstrations. Then nip over to the Greek grocery store to load up on ingredients.
Once you’ve had your fill, don’t miss the traditional Greek folk dance performances and the chance to shop for imported Greek items such as clothing, jewelry, accessories, bath and beauty products, and fine art.
What better way to enjoy the grand finale weekend of summer?
