Tired of the same old, same old? Rhythm on the River will rock you right out of that rut. It all takes place at Bicentennial Park (233 Civic Center Drive). What’s even better? It’s all free and even the kiddos will have a rockin’ good time.
Grammy-nominated Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson headline the event. The Fabulous Thunderbirds bring to stage a distinctive and powerful sound—Texas blues and southern rock—and you won’t soon forget the harmonica belting out swamp blues and R&B. The group has a huge worldwide fan base, touring with the likes of The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton. While the band is still devoted to the sounds of blues, R&B and rock n’ roll, you’ll likely hear a few experimental sounds, too.
You’ll also get to take in the Hadden Sayers Band, which twists rock, blues and soul music into something new and fresh.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m., but you should plan to come early, spread out a blanket and grab some great nosh thanks to Donatos and the Columbus Rec and Parks’ Strawberry Food Truck. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at 6:30 p.m.
And just so you don’t revert back to same old, same old, Rhythm on the River presents The Seldom Scene on July 24, and on August 25, BalletMet takes the stage for the series.
