Often in the winter, fitness feels like a real chore. Running on a belt (to nowhere); climbing stairs (to nowhere); biking (to nowhere). Even yoga indoors can start to feel a little claustrophobic after awhile. And, if you decide to brave the elements, you have to, well, brave the elements. But, once spring comes, fitness returns to the fun category--another opportunity to get out into the great outdoors and play. Sure, you can go for a run or a bike ride on the Olentangy trail, but sometimes it helps to get inspired with a group class. So, Columbus Commons, UnitedHealthcare and Ohio Fit Club have got you covered with their outdoor fitness classes. And, it won't cost you a cent.
Session I runs May 1 through June 9, with something fun on the docket several days a week. Yes, you can work up a sweat with Commons Cardio or Yoga on Tuesday, Kickboxing, Hip Hop or Yoga on Wednesday, and Zumba or Yoga on Saturday. Don't worry about signing a contract or joining a gym. Just sign a release waiver, and you are ready to roll. First, find the waiver online, then check in at the table located west of the stage before your first class. Easy peasy. (If you forget to sign a waiver online, they will also have some available on site).
Weekday classes begin at 5:15 p.m., so it's the perfect after-work pre-happy hour happy time. Take your class, then head out for drinks or dinner. Or, grab some breakfast or brunch before or after the Saturday morning classes. Check out our Downtown Concierge for some ideas.
Yes, the first session concludes on June 9, but you get a second chance July 31 - September 29.
