The Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery is presenting a new exhibition of contemporary photography by Ohio Artists, Earthly Delights, starting August 4. The images, curated by Kenyon College Professor Marcella Hackbardt, are inspired by the textures and places on planet Earth. The artists work in both analog and digital methods and use tools like social media and virtual reality. The collected work showcases different photographic processes, which reflect the artists’ ability to explore the relationship between humans and Earth.
“Throughout the exhibition there are multiple references to human presence and needs, from footprints to shelter, and a responsibility to truly comprehend the notion that we are part of the Earth, an Earth that gives us life and delight,” Hackbardt explained.
The exhibit runs August 4 - October 9, with a variety of special programs you can enjoy during the run. There is an opening reception on August 4 from 5 - 7 p.m., followed by a Curator’s Tour on Friday, August 5 from noon - 1 p.m. Other special events include:
