We know spring has been hit or miss so far…okay, a lot of miss. When exactly will the weather warm up so we can break out the sandals and shorts? No, crystal ball here, folks, but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan ahead. We know for certain that it will warm up, and when it does, we want you to be ready. So, how about marking your calendar for Downtown’s version of the old-school drive-in movie? We call it Topiary Park Summer Movies—complete with a food truck or two.
Discovery Special Improvement District and partners bring the From Book to Film series to life under the stars in Topiary Park. The movies don’t begin until June—surely it will be warm and sunny by then, right? The series features four films based on popular books that adults and kids alike will love.
Whether it’s Saturday date night or family fun with the kiddos, spread out your blankets in Topiary Park for a free summer movie, free popcorn and activities. Pack a picnic or pick up some nosh from a featured local food truck. Follow us on Twitter at @DTColumbus to find out what food truck will be at the park during the movie. Come early to settle in since the movies begin at dusk.
Topiary Park provides a perfect backdrop to hang with friends, family and neighbors for an evening of summer fun. Here’s the lineup:
Saturday, June 25 The Lorax
Saturday, July 30 Paddington
Saturday, August 27 Cloudy With A Chance For Meatballs
Saturday, September 24 The Hunger Games
Help us spread the word. See you soon!
A special shout out goes to all the sponsors and partners that make the series possible: Discovery Special Improvement District, Columbus Metropolitan Library, Discovery Civic Association, Friends of Topiary Park, State Auto Insurance Companies and Gateway Film Center.
