BalletMet Rhythm on the River ResizeThe yin and yang of Ohio weather has brought us near perfection this late August, no doubt a well earned weather credit from the miserable wet that was June. There is simply no excuse for staying indoors, and this weekend there are a number of fantastic events on tap to fill your calendar but not empty your pockets.

On Friday night, head to Bicentennial Park to take in the beauty of BalletMet at Rhythm on the River. Enjoy excerpts from the upcoming 2015-16 season and other favorite works with the downtown nighttime skyline as a backdrop. Food and beverage sales begin at 6:30 p.m. and the performance kicks of at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday you can spend the day at Mayor Coleman’s Block Party and Franklin County Children Services’ FamJam, enjoying entertainment, youth performances and getting to know community groups and organizations. The event is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Columbus Commons.

Are you a music lover? Then Sunday’s free Columbus Alive Concert, featuring hometown favorites Lydia Loveless, The Girls!, Dead Girlfriends and Shores of Elysium is for you. Bring you blankets and chairs to Columbus Commons from 2 - 7 p.m., but please leave your coolers back home. Bar, concessions and food trucks will be on hand to keep your hunger and thirst at bay.
