With summer around the corner, the time has come for Capital Crossroads to get things ship shape. CCSID contracted with Oakland Nursery this year for the planting of the Gay Street median and High Street pole-mounted flower baskets. In mid-May, Oakland Nursery planted pole-mounted hayracks with a mix of coleus, dragon wing begonias, ipomea and supertunias. The hayracks line High Street from Nationwide Boulevard to Fulton Street.
Oakland Nursery staff also planted the Gay Street medians, choosing a mix of coleus, zinnias, save petunias and ipomea. In the fall, the plantings will switch to mums, pansies and cabbage.
Capital Crossroads staff will maintain the pole-mounted and median flowers throughout the growing season.
As the summer season brings more and more visitors to the area and encourages residents and workers to enjoy outside events, CCSID has extended the hours for ambassadors to provide cleaning, safety and hospitality services. Ambassadors will be available from May through September until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
