Gazing at holiday window displays has long been a favorite pursuit during the most wonderful time of the year. Though we don’t have Barney’s or Bergdorf Goodman, this year Columbus has CAP-UP, the Columbus Arts Pop-Up Project. These window displays aren’t peddling wares; they feature works of art celebrating the city’s Bicentennial.
Each window installation features artwork from local artists who took inspiration from the celebration of Columbus’ 200th birthday, either as a look toward the future of innovation and design or as a glimpse into the history of what has made Columbus great.
The 200Columbus celebration has featured a wide range of public art projects, with CAP-UP celebrating the city’s past and future. The project is a partnership between the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District.
So make plans to explore the window displays this holiday season. Click here for more information and to find a map of the project. The windows will be on display until January 3, 2013.
