Downtown Holidays kick off a month-long party and offer new traditions. So, start with the Huntington Holiday train at Columbus Metropolitan Library. Or, What about lights at Columbus Commons? Then, how about the Trolley Hop? Oh, and you can’t forget the life-size nativity at State Auto. No worries. It’s all Downtown and promises tons of fun. We’ve got the low down on must-see holiday cheer.
First, Downtown Holidays begin at the library with a holiday Open House and tree lighting. Take in the beauty and magic of the 600-square-foot Huntington Holiday Train. Did you know the display includes four tiny trains running on more than 280 feet of track? And, it's covered by more than 50 pounds of snowflakes. Whoa, that’s a lot of snow. ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and Columbus Modern Dance Company will also cheer you along during some sing-along carols. Don’t forget to nab some hot cocoa before you head over to Topiary Park to visit the live reindeer.
On December 9, Downtown Holidays start in the Discovery District with an old-fashioned Trolley Hop. The party goes from from 1-4 p.m. Hop on and off the trolleys with stops throughout the district. Psst…check off your shopping list at Columbus Museum of Art and The Hills’ Market Downtown. Oh, and we hear Santa will stop by during the event. Come early for the opening and stay late to see Topiary Park lit up with thousands of white lights. Area trolley stops will also include donation boxes for hats, gloves, socks and baby sleepers for those in need.
What about a little exercise after all the holiday cheer? Check out a walking tour of holiday lights. You'll get some holiday spirit and activity.
