Downtown C-pass will provide unlimited access to COTA for more than 45,000 Downtown employees beginning June 1. Yep, unlimited. Anywhere, any time, and at no cost to the individual. No kidding, nada, nothing. Free is too good to be true, right? Well, property owners in Capital Crossroads SID will pick up the tab. So, how do you qualify?

Downtown C-pass: Eligibility Requirements

  1. You must work in an eligible Downtown property. Here’s an eligibility map.
  2. So, you work in an eligible property. Talk to your company’s human resources. Why? Individuals can’t sign up. You must go through your employer. Every company chooses an account representative, and this person will be your go-to guy (or gal).
  3. Lastly, you have to work on average 15 hours per week and plan to do so for at least two months. (Interns are also eligible.)

So, you meet all those rules. What's next? You’ll need a special pass. Your HR can help you with that, too. You’ll get a couple choices for your C-pass. (You can choose to use your smart phone if you want.) Once you get your C-pass, don’t even think about sharing it. That’s a big no-no, and you’ll lose your privileges.

Never thought about riding the bus or don’t think it’s for you? Here’s a video that might change your mind.

Remember, the Downtown C-pass is good for any COTA trip. If you’re eligible, sign up with your employer even if you don’t plan to use it every day. Maybe give it a whirl the next time you want to see a Buckeye’s game and don’t want to hassle with parking. Or, hop on a couple days a week for work. Remember, the time you spend on the bus is free time. So, get a jump on your day answering email on the free Wi-Fi, or kick back and relax. By the way, when was the last time you relaxed on your morning commute?

Scared about giving it a shot? No worries. Check out the how-to video. You’ll be an old pro in no time.
