holiday-trolley-hopNow that there is finally a chill in the air, it’s a great time to think about holiday outings, and the Discovery District Trolley Hop has the makings of a great Downtown tradition. The Trolley Hop event runs from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, December 10. The opening ceremonies will take place at the Main Library where Santa will spread lots of good cheer to kick off the holiday season. Don’t forget to check out the miniature train that makes its return “home” to the library this year. From there, head on over to the gatehouse at Topiary Park to hop on the Trolley.

You can hop on and off the trolley throughout the Discovery District to check out places like Thurber House, Columbus Museum of Art, The Hills Market Downtown, Kelton House, State Auto’s Nativity display, the Christian Spiritualist Temple and much more. Hmmm, you can even do a little shopping, too.

So, start a new tradition. Bundle up the kids and head downtown for a free ride on the trolley. After the afternoon of fun, don’t forget to take a stroll through Topiary Park to see all the topiaries lit for the holidays.

And, if you want to do some good while you have some fun, bring some new socks, gloves or baby sleepers with you to drop off in one of the many drop boxes in the neighborhood during the event. All donated goods will help support folks using services at Faith Mission, Manna Café and the Center for Healthy Families.

Pssst…find free parking for the event in the Motorist’s lots next to Topiary Park, and if you want to let organizers know you’ll be there, head on over to their Facebook Event.
