Milestone 229 patioWhen you sit on a spectacular patio in the middle of summer, don’t you think you should get to sip a festive or frosty beverage? Lucky for you, lots of downtown restaurants offer alfresco dining and fantastic happy hours — everywhere from the Discovery District to the riverfront. Just for today, let’s hone in on a few places that also feature photograph-worthy city views. A few you might have thought of, but there were a few surprises even for us. Keep reading for a chance to win drinks at the end.

So, it may not be a big surprise that Milestone 229 gives you an amazing riverfront few, and what is more spectacular than the world-class fountain adjacent to the restaurant? But did you know even in the hottest, muggiest weather, the outdoor seating feels cool and comfortable? Whether the fountain or the river breeze cools things off, happy hour is pretty dang fantastic from this vantage point.

A quick walk from there, diners (and drinkers) find M at Miranova with award-winning, globally inspired cuisine and an incredible cocktail bar. But did you know, M hosts its very own Summer Concert Series on the terrace, which overlooks the city? The Series runs through August.

Just across the river, on select evenings this summer, COSI opens its City View Patio. Sure, it’s cool to walk through the exhibits, but COSI admission isn’t required. Outdoor seating under the shade of colorful umbrellas provides a spectacular view of the Scioto Mile.

As a crow flies, just a few blocks away at Gay and Third Streets, you can cozy up to your cocktail on the Latitude 41 patio. The cushy patio seating even offers personal tabletop fireplaces should the summer evening take on a bit of a chill. Take in the views of what’s happening in the Gay Street District. If you fly on up to the fourth floor pool deck, you’ll find a perfect place for a private cocktail party with a few (or a hundred) of your closest friends. You won’t beat the view, either.

Think these are the only places to get a great cocktail on a patio this summer? Nay, nay. Cocktail options and alfresco dining abound on Gay Street and throughout downtown. Here are some more places you’ll want to check out.

Tell us about your favorite downtown patio, and you’ll be entered to win drinks on us. Pssst, post a picture of you enjoying your drink on said patio, and you get brownie points.

Cheers!
