Celebrate Right DowntownCelebrate the most wonderful time of the year right downtown. Whether with friends or family, you’ll always find something fun to make the season bright.

To help you get through the work day and feel festive while you do it, head over to the Ohio Statehouse. Their Holiday Choir Concerts feature musical performances from Ohio choirs and musical groups. So, pack your lunch or pick up something delicious at Graze or Market 65, or grab a hot drink from Hemingway Coffee House. The concerts run from noon - 1 p.m. and won’t cost you a dime. And, if you can’t head over to catch your favorite group, you can see them live streamed at OhioChannel.org.

Holiday Hockey

For the sports’ fans out there, a night with the hottest team on ice will brings out the fa-la-la. Fresh off a must-have win over the Devils on Friday followed by 1-0 squeaker past the Coyotes, your Columbus Blue Jackets skate versus the Oilers Tuesday night and the Islanders on Thursday. So, grab some tickets and come see the team that’s leading the Metropolitan Division. Indeed, you don’t need to love hockey to love the show they put on at Nationwide Arena. And, once the game is over, raise a glass to Goalie Bob and the gang at one of the local watering holes.

Do the Dance

BalletMet’s The Nutcracker wows its audience year in and year out. So, take in the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and wonder at Clara’s dream come to life. With the magic of BalletMet’s dancers combined with the music of the Columbus Symphony, you'll have memories that last a lifetime. Note, the show runs 12/15-12/17 and 12/20 - 12/24 at the stunning Ohio Theatre. And, tickets are available right here.

Historical Holidays

For those who don a Columbus Til I Die t-shirt, the Columbus Historical Society Holiday Party and Open House lets you celebrate the holiday Columbus-style. First, head to the Columbus Historical Society from 5:30 — 8:30 p.m. on December 15 for some festive fun. Then, browse their exhibits, enjoy refreshments and hear a bit about what the have planned in the new year. They’d love a reservation, but if you have a last-minute opening on your calendar, just drop by.
