CCAD Celebrates Future Creative Leaders

Sure, spring rain brings May flowers. But a run of gloom douses a good mood unless you’ve got things planned and ready to go. We’re here to help with that. Beginning April 6, celebrate future creative leaders from Columbus College of Art & Design. And if it’s raining? No worries. Collision: 2018 CCAD MFA Thesis Exhibition is all indoors and features the work of 19 students.

The Beeler Gallery will host the opening reception on Friday, April 6 from 6 – 8 p.m. It’s free and open to the public. Check out painting, sculpture, photography, design, video, animation and other media.

“You’re able to see raw work from the future creative leaders in Columbus,” said Molly Burke, Assistant Director of Graduate Studies at CCAD. “So, you get a chance to check out what’s current and contemporary outside of a commercial gallery space.”

Collision: 2018 CCAD MFA Thesis Exhibition runs through April 29, and you may get so jazzed that you need more CCAD art. Lucky for you. On April 7 the Semiannual CCAD Art Fair begins. Not only can you support CCAD students and alumni, your purchases support the local art scene.

If you want first dibs on all the cool stuff, plan to buy a First Look ticket. It gets you in the door early (between 9 – 11 a.m.) All proceeds from art go directly to the artists. And just so you know, ticket sale proceeds go toward student scholarships. Win, win, win!

Need a few more ideas? The university offers plenty of things to keep you going through an occasional gloomy day.

Lastly, before you leave campus, check out the Ampersand Emporium. The store features swag and alumni work. Hours are extended from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. And yes, sales support student scholarships.
