Arts Festival Tips and Tricks

First, for those who can’t leave home without their smartphone, make sure to download the App. Find interactive maps linking to artists, food performances and more. You can even find info about how to purchase VIP packages.

Not attached to your smartphone? No worries. Because some people go old-school, you can also print out a  map of the Arts Festival.

Next, you gotta know where to go when temperatures soar. Head over to the Oakland Nursery Shade Stations at Bicentennial Park. Kick back in the shade with color and texture that will transport you to tropical paradise. And if you need be one with the water to cool off, Riverfest returns this year offering a free canoe and kayak launch point.

Gotta kiddo (or one at heart) who must find just the right medium for her art? Make a beeline for the Hands-on Activities Village. Pssst, the Children’s Gallery is close by, too.

Sure, you can rub elbows with internationally recognized artists, but don’t forget the local talent. Creative groups from all over CBUS come together under the Big Local Art Tent. Local independent artists will sell their art. And, artists will show you how to work with clay, leather, stained glass and more.

So, the Arts Festival is your chance to kick of summer in style. Also, check out Getting Around so you can stroll around without worrying how you're gonnna get back home. Lastly, snap a selfie with the Art Shark if you see him out and about.
