Museum of Art addition resizeThe Art Matters Campaign didn’t just change the footprint of the Columbus Museum of Art. The mission-centered architecture inspires, connects and reflects Columbus’ vibrant cultural community; and final phase of this three-part master plan added 50,000 square feet of gallery, program and event space to the existing building. But it’s more than that. It feels like a whole different place from the moment you walk through the garden to the entrance. You feel how much care went into every single detail of the planning, design and construction to create the best experience ever.

You’re not just a patron at a museum.

Yes, you will find incredible art in each flexible gallery, but there’s something about the creative experience that draws you in and that feels different from a typical museum experience. From the sunlight that shoots across the second floor on a fall day and lands at the feet of the horse sculpture to the Center for Creativity to the ancient glass on loan from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, you connect with art in a very personal way. If you let it, the experience will change you.

October 25 marks the community grand opening, but if you want a sneak peak, consider purchasing a museum membership, which provides entry to the Member Preview Party on October 24. We promise it will be money well spent. You’ll want to keep coming back – whether it’s date night or a day to hang out with the kids. CMA offers a place to cultivate and encourage curiosity about art and build conversations about creativity.

Need another nudge before you make up your mind? Well, we have it on good authority that Schokko Art Café might just become your new favorite hangout when you need a chocolate fix. The namesake model was known for her love of chocolate so Cameron Mitchell Catering created artful chocolate decadence just for you when you visit the café.
