BalletMet at Rhythm on the RiverBallet under the stars. Even the sound of it brings on a bit of artful Zen. Lots of arts options abound in Columbus, but experiencing BalletMet under the stars, against the downtown skyline can’t be beat. Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and BalletMet will partner to showcase an evening of exquisite dance on the Bicentennial Park Stage.

On Friday, September 2, BalletMet dancers will perform excerpts and iconic moments from the company’s 2016/17 season. BalletMet will showcase both classical and contemporary works from Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker and Twisted 2, a collaboration between BalletMet, Opera Columbus and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Under the direction of artistic director Edwaard Liang, BalletMet ranks among the nation’s top 20 ballet companies.

The evening of exquisite dance begins at 8 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and admission is free.

This performance promises to delight the entire family. You and your kiddos might become so enthralled in ballet, that you may want to check out one of the many educational opportunities that BalletMet offers. From Wiggle Jig to Moving Into Literacy to urban dance and wellness classes, BalletMet reaches more than 30,000 people annually, and it offers hundreds of classes per week to students ages 4-84.
