Columbus Crew v. Portland Timbers

Army Air Forces Heavy Bombers and Winning World War II

Take a journey back in time and dive into the heroic tales of the fearless men who flew the B-17s and B-24s during World War II. Join us as we unravel the untold stories of the United States Army Air Forces’ strategic bombing campaign from historians and curators from the National Museum of the United States Air Force (NMUSAF) and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) History Office. The presenters will reveal the challenges and triumphs of aerial warfare during World War II, making connections to the Apple TV show Masters of the Air and our latest special exhibition, Lost Man Blues: Jon Schueler – Art and War.

The evening will include a panel discussion, display of original images from the NMUSAF’s Memphis Belle exhibit, and time for audience Q&A.

Light refreshments will be provided.

OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon

The 2024 OhioHealth Capital City Half & Quarter Marathon and Columbus Promise 5K will be held on Saturday, April 27!

The “Best Tour Of Columbus On Two Feet” will again feature a distance for everybody: OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon (13.1 miles), OhioHealth Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles) and the Columbus Promise 5K (3.1 miles).

All races begin and end on S. High Street adjacent to the John F. Wolfe Columbus Commons in downtown Columbus.

Join us every Wednesday morning May through October from 7:30 am – 10:30 am and grab breakfast from our breakfast food trucks: Biscuit Boss, Columbus Coffee Co., Donna’s Delicious Dozen and Roaming Rooster.

Food Truck Food Court at Columbus Commons

Food Truck Food Court is back in Downtown Columbus! Every Thursday from 11 am – 2 pm, Columbus Commons will be hosting local food trucks serving up all your favorites, from pizza to hibachi.

Nine trucks will be featured throughout the season including Elevated Pizza, Fetty’s Street Food, McGinnis Grill, Pitabilities, Schmidt’s, Taesty’s and Zaki Grill, with two rotating trucks each month.

Local Matters Veggie Van will be joining our line-up again to provide fresh produce to Columbus Commons visitors.

New this year – shop the SID’s Pearl Market for local goods each Food Truck Food Court Thursday from May 16 – October 10.

Take your food to go, chill out on the lawn, or grab a table in the Bosque.

Alley Islands

Blockfort will once again host Alley Islands, a community street festival, in partnership with the Discovery District Civic Association on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Dozens of bands and vendors, along with local breweries and food trucks will take over the alleys around Blockfort for a day of entertainment and fun.



Join us from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the alleys surrounding Blockfort Gallery & Studios [162 N 6th St, Columbus OH 43215].

ABOUT ALLEY ISLANDS

Located in the Discovery District of Downtown Columbus, the Alley Islands festival seeks to welcome people of all ages for a day of music, food, art and fun. Two stages, set under numerous new neighborhood murals, with over 20 performers, ranging from live music, comedy, circus performances and storytelling span the day. Artists, crafters, and small business artisans line the streets, capped by food trucks and local breweries. Inside, guests are welcome to visit multiple gallery spaces and a variety of artist studios. The whole day is sprinkled with street performers, delicious food and drinks and visual experiences. The cost of attendance is $10 for guests (FREE for all children age 10 and under). Proceeds from the event go to supporting the artists and performers and the Discovery District Civic Association.



THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Alley Islands is a partnership with the Discovery District Civic Association, the neighborhood organization made up of area local businesses and institutions. Alley Islands takes place just steps away from Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus Metropolitan Library, the Hills Market Downtown and several other cultural and commercial establishments. Alley Islands aims to bring new energy and attention to the Discovery District neighborhood.

A once-in-a-lifetime chance to see an (almost!) total solar eclipse is happening right here in Columbus! Here’s what you need to know:

🌙 On April 8, Columbus will experience 99.6% totality just after 3 pm.
🌙 The next eclipse in Ohio won’t occur until 2099!
