Hatching Art

Art Hatching ImageYou know #ColumbusMakesArt — really great art. Maybe you even got a good taste of it at the Columbus Arts Festival last weekend. But don’t stop there. We took a peek at Art 360° Contemporary Art Hatching Across Ohio  The exhibit won’t be here for long, and it’s something that you (and the kiddos) must see. They’ve got some awesome special events coming up that you won’t want to miss.

First, stand back and watch kids run up to the glass cases and look at these eggs. It’s cool as heck to listen to little kids with knobby knees and skinned elbows so enthralled with art—asking questions, pointing to the bright colors, tracing movement through the art. But don’t stand back for long, because this art exhibition will capture your attention, too.

For the next two Saturdays, your CMA admission includes free art activities in the Open Studio. Creators of all ages will imagine and build their own egg artwork, inspired by the Art 360 exhibit. This will come in real handy because after you see these creations, you will want to let your own imagination loose.

On the first and third Sunday of each month, Art 360 artists will accompany tour docents where they will discuss the work as well as the challenges and surprises that they encountered using an ostrich egg as a “canvas.” Hey, Sundays are even free at CMA. Now, you really gotta get there.
