Downtown’s next great neighborhood is just around the bend of the Scioto River. While the Scioto Peninsula is an often-planned section of Downtown, action has been slow…until now.
Prioritized as a key project in the 2010 Downtown Strategic Plan, the goal of the Scioto Peninsula is to create an active, mixed-use development anchored by a cultural district. As we’ve seen in other parts of Downtown, greenspace is a catalyst for redevelopment. Fittingly, the first project along the Scioto Peninsula was completed in 2015, as the Scioto Greenways riverfront restoration project opened to the public.
Focus on greenspace and cultural amenities continues with the construction of the new National Veterans Memorial and Museum, which broke ground in December 2015, and the Scioto Peninsula Park and Garage, which is scheduled to break ground in September 2016.
