Spoonful Records’ owner Brett Ruland brings his passion for vinyl records to the city he calls home.

Previously a graphic designer, Brett was laid off from the job that he loved and began looking for a change.

“I decided I needed to do something different.  I didn’t want to work for anybody else; I wanted to do my own thing.”

Spoonful Records opened its doors in July, 2010 and has contributed to the energy of Downtown ever since.  Brett, a graduate of CCAD, wanted his record store to generate more buzz around the area.

“When I was in school, I didn't feel like there was much to do in the area so I thought it would be nice to contribute to the landscape.”

As Spoonful Records continues to flourish, so does Brett’s drive to share his passion of music to others.

“I love to turn people onto old and new music. Spoonful is all about customer service and providing great record albums locally.”

You can find Spoonful Records at 116  E. Long Street, and don't forget to like it on Facebook.
